Emergency Preparedness Award
The Emergency Preparedness Award is part of a new BSA program of emphasis for Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Venturers, and Leaders, in cooperation with the Federal Department of Homeland Security. Details of the program are on-line, on the official BSA web site, and can be seen by clicking here.
Separate age appropriate requirements have been developed for Tiger Cubs, Wolf Cub Scouts, Bear Cub Scouts, Webelos Scouts, Boy Scouts and Varsity Scouts, Venturers and Sea Scouts, Unit Volunteer Scouters, and District/Council Volunteer Scouters.
All emergency activities carried out by Scouting units must be appropriate for the ages and abilities of the young people involved. Units should participate only under the supervision of their own leaders, and plans for unit help must be coordinated with community agencies responsible for disaster preparedness.
Tiger Cub Requirements
- Complete Tiger Cub Achievement 3—Keeping Myself Healthy and Safe. This achievement covers a family fire plan and drill and what to do if separated from the family.
- Complete Tiger Cub Elective 27—Emergency! This elective helps a Tiger Cub be ready for emergencies and dangerous situations and has him discuss a family emergency plan with his family.
- With your parent or guardian's help, complete one of these three activities.
- Take the American Red Cross First Aid for Children Today (FACT) course.
- Join a safe kids program such as McGruff Child Identification, Internet Safety, or Safety at Home.
- Show and tell your family household what you have learned about preparing for emergencies.
Thank You

Re: Go See It - Nov 7 - Vacaville Public Library
I have reserved time at the Vacaville Public Library on Nov 7th at 2:00 pm.At this go see it, the librarian will help the boys to learn how the library works and to find information specific to different endangered species. At the next Den meeting I am going to ask the cubs to pick an endangered species, learn about it, and report back to the den. At the library the librarian will be able to help them find information related to their chosen species. She may select a related book and read to them.If the weather is good, we can have our snack in the courtyard outside of the Library. Please let me know whether you will be able to make it to this "Go See It".Note: the endangered species information is for their Wildlife conservation belt loop, and visiting the library satisfies Tiger Badge requirement:"1G - Go See It ActivityGo to a library, historical society, museum, old farm, or historical building, or visit an older person in your community."Fred ZilzTiger Den 12

Re: Go See It - Wildlife Animal Rescue Center in Suisun
- Explain what natural resources are and why it's important to protect and conserve them.
- Make a poster that shows and explains the food chain. Describe to your den what happens if the food chain becomes broken or damaged.
- Learn about an endangered species. Make a report to your den that includes a picture, how the species came to be endangered, and what is being done to save it.

Den Meeting - Sept 15
The Cubs completed the requirements for the Collections Belt Loop.
Joseph recieved his immediate recognition emblem and all of the cubs recieved more beads for their progress toward their Tiger Cub Badge.
The Duggans helped the cubs make a snack (satisfying elective 25 - make a snack and share it with your family or den). They each were able to make their own trail mix, using cereal, peanuts, almonds, raisins, m&ms, etc. Good stuff.
Next the cubs started work on their Den flag. Fun and messy - Thank you Mr. Epperson, Mr. Madsen, and Mr. Vito.
This Saturday Sept 19th we will be helping with the Coastal Clean-up which will satisfy the Leave No Trace project requirement, as well as being a great thing to do for the community. The Cubs should meet at Centenial Park - the clean up goes from 9 - 12 so come when you can.
Next meeting - Sept 22 - we will be working on the Leave no Trace poster, and we will do leaf rubbings (be sure and bring leaves from your yard).
And once again I did not take any pictures - I am really slacking. If any one did take pictures, please post them. Tiger Den 12.
Go See It Rock Shop - A Success
The cubs learned everything they needed to earn their geology belt loop and saw a wonderful collection of rocks, which gave them one of the requirements for their collection belt loop. And the Den Leader neglected to take any pictures - What was he thinking. If any of the Moms or Dads took any pictures, please send them to me or post them on the Den 12 photo Album.
