Re: Go See It - Nov 7 - Vacaville Public Library

Time Change - The Go See It on Nov. 7th has been changed to 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm.

Please let me know if this presents a conflict for you.
This change is due to the Librarian's schedule.  If this time will not work, I will try to move the Go See It to the other Vacaville Public Library location.  We are currently at the cultural center on Ulatis.

At this go see it, the librarian will help the boys to learn how the library works and to find information specific to different endangered species.   At the next Den meeting I am going to ask the cubs to pick an endangered species, learn about it, and report back to the den.  At the library the librarian will be able to help them find information related to their chosen species.  She may select a related book and read to them.

If the weather is good, we can have our snack in the courtyard outside of the Library.

Please let me know whether you will be able to make it to this "Go See It".

Note:  the endangered species information is for their Wildlife conservation belt loop, and visiting the library satisfies Tiger Badge requirement:

Go See It - Nov 7 - Vacaville Public Library

I have reserved time at the Vacaville Public Library on Nov 7th at 2:00 pm.

Re: Go See It - Wildlife Animal Rescue Center in Suisun

Another successful Go See It.  The boys really enjoyed seeing the animals and Monique - the tour guide - did an excellent job of explaining everything.  The boys got to see a hawk, owl, coyote, raccoon, opposum, and the highlight -  a Golden Eagle.   If you were not able to make it to the go see it, try to go see this facility, it is really nice and the people we met there were wonderful.   Monique touched on a few of topics like - natural resources, conservation, food chain, and endangered species.

Whether you and your Tiger Cub made it to this Go See It or not, please discuss with your cub what is meant by a food chain, what an endangered species is, and what happens if an endangered species is not protected - they go extinct.  We are going to try and help the cubs get their Wildlife conservation belt loop.   The requirements:
  1. Explain what natural resources are and why it's important to protect and conserve them.
  2. Make a poster that shows and explains the food chain. Describe to your den what happens if the food chain becomes broken or damaged.
  3. Learn about an endangered species. Make a report to your den that includes a picture, how the species came to be endangered, and what is being done to save it.
I plan to work on these requirements in some of the next few meetings.

For all of the Tiger cubs who came to the Go See It, please right a short thank you note, maybe writing or drawing something that was your favorite animal or thing that you learned. Bring them to the next meeting and I will mail them to Monique at the Wildlife Rescue Center. If you were not at the the go see it, the tiger cubs could write a letter to a friend or relative.  This will satisfy one of the requirements for our Communicating Belt Loop, which we will also be working on.

Re: Tiger Den 12 "Go See It"

Suisun Wildlife Rescue Go See It - Confirmed for the 10th

Based on everyone's responses, I confirmed for the 10th.  So we will be meeting at the wildlife center in Suisun on October 10th at 2:00.   There will be a $4.00 fee / person (cub and parent).

I have attached an activity consent form.  If you are able to get this filled out and sent back to me before the event that would be great, as it will save time.  I will try to have them available at the Go See It, if you are not able to get it to me in advance.

I posted a google map to the center on the Tiger Den 12 Blog .

We will not be meeting on the 6th so our next meeting will be the Go See It on the 10th followed by our next Den Meeting on the 13th.  Please let me know if you have any questions of concerns.
